All though the month seemed short for some reason, we stayed quite busy!
We adopted Toodles, who is seriously just a ball of fun and he absolutely loves Little Miss and she loves him just as much.
I was able to do alot of crafts this month including working on Little Miss’ scrapbook, her Halloween costume and a few wooden signs.
September was full of family as well. Fridays with my dad are always great. My cousin also moved back from the west coast and was able to finally meet Little Miss.
I made homemade chicken noodle soup and worked on a few recipes.
I also signed up to go on a weekend retreat with one of my best friends. I cannot wait to write more blogs and post pictures of that as well.
Little Miss also went on her 2nd sleep over to grandma and grandpa’s, mommy didn’t cry as much this time. So I treated myself to a Vegas Bomb. I hadn’t had one since before I was pregnant and I actually craved them during my pregnancy. ( no Vegas bombs were consumed during my pregnancy)
And one of my favorite parts of this month was pulling out our Fall decorations!
Did I mention Little Miss turned 5 months old??
October is not only my favorite month but it’s going to be a busy one! Not only am I going on a weekend retreat, A is going out of town again so I get another week of mommy and daughter time. We have the pumpkin patch planned, Halloween cartoons with Nana and Papa, Great America for A and I to have a date day, family photos, and of course Hocus Pocus all month long!
With the excitement of the Fall season, I forgot my Thankful Thursday post!
Coffee. Seriously, as a new mommy coffee as been a blessing. I especially appreciate the Keurig my parents bought me for Christmas. Plus that saves me money instead of going to Starbucks everyday, like I do now because of pumpkin spice lattes.
If you would have asked me a year ago if I was thankful for coffee, I probably would have thrown up at the word coffee. Coffee and anything pumpkin was my enemy during my pregnancy.
But now the Little Miss is here, and likes to play at all hours of the day, this mama always has her coffee ready!
What better way to start the Fall season then by making a huge pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. I decided to not use my slow cooker since my dad was spending Friday with me and Little Miss at our house and we wanted it for lunch.
Here’s what I used( I made a huge pot full to be able to have leftovers and freeze some)
-thawed chicken. I used 2 pounds of Boneless, skinless chicken tenders.
– 2 carrots
– 1 yellow onion
– 1 bag of frozen corn
– 1 bag frozen peas
-1 bag of egg noodles
-1 container of chicken broth
– chicken paste
– pepper to taste
Start by putting a little bit of oil in your soup pot and sauté your chopped up onion, carrots and chicken. I cubed my chicken, but you can shred it if you’d like.
Once your chicken is white, add your container of chicken broth. I also added about 6 cups of water as well to fill my pot half way.
Once this boils, add your frozen veggies. If you’re using fresh, add them to the first step to be sautéed.
After your soup begins to boil again, add your chicken paste and pepper and stir. Start with 2 tablespoons of the paste and check the flavor. I ended up using 4 tablespoons because of how much I ended up making.
Add in your noodles and allow to boil again.
Once it boils again, your soup is ready!
I made enough for one container for my dad, us, and two containers to freeze.
So, I’m definitely behind and late on this “trend”, but I’ve recently become obsessed with Harry Potter. If you follow my Instagram you’ll see that I’ve been reading the series the last few months, and I even made my daughter the Save Dobby sign for her room.
When these books first came out I tried reading them and just couldn’t get into them. And I love to read! So I was a little disappointed then. I tried watching the movies when the last one came out on dvd and few years ago. Couldn’t pay attention. So I thought, ok I’m just not a Harry Potter person.
Flash forward a few years to the week A left for Minnesota for a week. ABC Family did a Harry Potter weekend. Little Miss was asleep on me and the remote was across the room, so I was technically stuck watching the first one. I was hooked within 30 minutes. But like all infants, she woke up and mom life started again. I ended up going to our local Family Video and renting the first and second movie to watch at night.
I told A how much I really liked the movies and wanted to start reading the books. So naturally, he came home from his trip with the entire book series for me to read.
I’m currently on the 4th book and I’m so hooked that I’m actually sad I only have time to read at night after Little Miss goes to bed. But it turned into my nightly routine which I think all mom’s need. After a full day of playing, feeding and changing diapers we need some me time!
I make it a point to turn off the tv and cozy up on the couch and read a few chapters each night. So I get my Harry Potter fix and I get to relax while I wait for Little Miss to be down for the night.
Then this came in the mail today.
Seriously, I have the best husband ever.
I may have already watched the first and second one but I get to rewatch them again with out having to worry about making sure I return them on time. However, I’m only going to watch the movies after I finish the book. So no spoiler alerts please!
It’s here!!! My favorite time of the year! The crisp weather, sweaters, boots, pumpkins, Halloween, Hocus Pocus. Everything!!! I usually jump the gun and put up our Fall decorations in September, and this year was no different. We’ve had some fake pumpkins around the house for a few weeks now. No shame over here!
For as much as I love this time of the year, I’m so excited to share my excitement with Little Miss. In comes our Fall Family Fun List! We have next month packed with activities for her first Fall season, including her Halloween costume I’m going to be working on.
Even though our house is ready for Fall, I do contain myself and wait to put up the Halloween decorations, for October 1st.
When I found out we were having a girl, not only was I excited for all the Disney Princess toys and clothes, I was excited to be able to pretty much play dress up.
Before finding out Little Miss was going to be a little miss, I bought a few gender neutral sleepers. They were cute, but not as cute as the pink and zebra print dresses I found. I did look at the boys clothing as well and I never got excited over any of it.
The day we found out we were having a girl we went straight to Target to buy dresses and girly sleepers. Now that Little Miss is getting bigger, I find her outfits are so much more fun to put together. So matching outfits and accessories is one of my favorite things to do when we have to run an errand or we go out for the day.
I’m a huge fan of leggings. I prefer them over yoga pants and especially jeans. Even during my pregnancy I loved my maternity leggings. The more color and print the better. So when I see a pair of fun leggings for Little Miss I have to grab them.
Today, we made a trip to the grocery store. Both Little Miss and I in our leggings and matching beanies. Couldn’t ask for a better photo opportunity then today’s outfit!
Today, A, myself and Little Miss participated in the Chicago PKD walk in Elk Grove Village. As a volunteer coordinator for the Chicago chapter, I had put together goodie bags for the kids penny dash, held right before the walk.
This was also Little Miss’ first walk.
She was all set in her End PKD onesie that was given to her from another volunteer from the chapter.
What was great about today’s walk was that today is actually my 3 year anniversary of donating my kidney to my uncle. Since donating my kidney, I’ve been active in the PKD Foundation to help find a cure for this disease. My previous post from earlier this month is all about why I donated my kidney.
Here’s a few more pictures from today. We can’t wait for next year’s walk!

I find myself looking back on the past 5 years of my life, thanks to Timehop, and realized how much I’ve changed for the better. I won’t go into details, but I’m incredibly glad I’m the person I am today and the door to my past is closed.
I’m thankful to have what I have, who I have and what I have to look forward to.
Just like everyone else, I have my good days and I have days where I just want to scream and shut the world out. As a mom, I cant do that. I have to suck it up and not let my daughter know I’m upset.
No matter how bad of a day I have, I take a few minutes, look around and remember what I have to be grateful for.
In keeping up with a positive lifestyle, I’ve decided to use Thursdays and my ” Thankful Thursday” and look back on the week and blog about it. I’m not talking about being thankful for family, friends, etc. I’m constantly telling myself that everyday because I am thankful for my family, friends, a home, my daughter of course. This where the quote ” it’s the little things” comes into life.
So as my first ” Thankful Thursday” I’m thankful for Huggies Little Snugglers diapers because of the indicator line. Silly yes, but it is nice to not have to pick up your baby and smell their tushy to see if they need a diaper or not.
It’s always the little things that make life just a little bit better.
I’ve been an animal person my entire life. I had a black and white cat named Sox growing up, she lived to be 18. I got a black cat named Benji for my 16th birthday from a friend. I rescued a bunny named Thumper when I was in high school from an abusive family. I took in a kitten when I was in beauty school named Maiden, and I drove 4 hours to get a dachshund named Schnapps when I was 19.
Thumper passed away when I was in high school and 6 months later we brought home Charlie, who is now 10. All of these fur babies have and had a special place in my heart.
Fast forward to being 23 and moving out of my parents house and in with my then boyfriend, now husband. I couldn’t take any of my pets with me because they were already old enough to be settled in their homes. I was so bummed and needed a fur baby to keep me company. In come Mouse and Pixie.
Mouse and a pixie changed both mine and my husband’s life. He was a dog person his whole life, until these two came. They’re brother and sister, Mouse being the runt. I’ve never had a set of cats light up my life the way they do.
While I was pregnant, Mouse was the baby’s guardian. He slept on my belly, he sat next to me every chance he got. Unfortunately, Mouse became very ill and between multiple vet visits and medications there was nothing more we could do. Little Miss was born on Mouse and Pixies birthday, and Mouse passed away 3 days later, the day we brought Little Miss home.
I still cry to this day and I’m convinced he’s still here watching over our daughter.
Before Mouse got sick and even before I was pregnant, we brought home an adorable calico kitten named Penny, she completed our family.
During my pregnancy, we had basically said that Mouse was going to be our daughter’s cat. Unfortunately, Mouse would only get the chance to see her once. I’m so incredibly thankful I was able to get that picture.
Since I had a cat growing up, I wanted Little Miss to have the same. Being an only child, Sox was my best friend. She was always there for me to play with and I learned how to feed her and take care of her.
We decided we wanted our daughter to have the same experience. We decided to check out a few animals shelters for a kitten.
The first shelter wasn’t really friendly, to the point we felt like they were trying to give us reasons why we couldn’t adopt. Kind of sad when we just wanted to find a home for a kitten.
We went to another shelter today and couldn’t be any happier with out experience there.
So this is the newest member of of fur baby family. His name is Toodles, he’s 3 months old and is the most playful little guy ever!
Our daughter loves him already and we’re so excited to have been able to give her this opportunity to have her very own kitten to grow up with.
Where does all the time go? Our daughter is 5 months old today. I still can’t believe this time a year ago, I was just barely in my second trimester and we had just announced we were expecting a baby. We still didn’t know if we were having a boy or girl so we just had a Snowflake.
The past month Little Miss has officially learned how to roll over to her tummy and has even been pushing herself up with her hands and is very determined to crawl. She also loves carrots, squash, sweet potatoes and bananas.
At her last check up she weighed 18 pounds and was 25 inches long. She’s also been on a great schedule and sleeps in her crib through the night. Mommy and daddy are incredibly happy to get more sleep too.
Little Miss still loves Mickey Mouse clubhouse and now loves Sofia the first and Doc Mcstuffins!
She also has two teeth!!!
Happy 5 Months Little Miss! We love you to infinity and beyond!
