Fairy Party.

Yesterday Little Miss and I had a fairy party with her best friend and aunt. Since Little Miss and her BFF love Tinkerbell, we decided to make a day of it full of crafts, snacks and of course all the Peter Pan and Tinkerbell movies!

Our craft was to make fairy dust jars, thanks Pinterest!  Of course they didn’t come out like the pin, so we did our own spin on them.

image

We purchased mason jars, glow in the dark medium paint and glow paint from Hobby Lobby. And used paint brushed to spot the jars. The paint says to let “charge” in the sun, but by the time we did it the sun was going down so we stuck them under lamps. Originally we should have just done a 2nd coat of the spots since the color wasn’t ask dark as we thought it would be. Instead we used sponge brushes to cover the inside with modge podge and poured glitter inside and shook it up.

image

I think they came out awesome, you can still see the paint spots and it actually does glow in the dark. Trial and error, we’ve already thought of how to make them again.

Our snack was fairy bread! Bread, butter and sprinkles! Easy and delicious!

image

** bread must be cut intro triangles, just like the fairies eat bread.

And our movie line up included
Pan
Disney’s Peter Pan
Peter Pan (2003)
Hook

Already planning our next theme night! With Little Miss getting older, it’s so fun to plan crafts with her and watch her enjoy herself. When they say parents get to see the magic through their child’s eyes, it really is amazing!

Dropkick Murphys 20th Anniversary Tour.

Last night A and I went to see Dropkick Murphys at the Aragon Ballroom. It was their 20th anniversary tour and it was by far the best concert I have ever been too! And I spent my teenage years in concert venues.

A had gotten us the tickets for Christmas, so Little Miss had a sleepover at grandma and grandpa’s.  With date nights being rare, two date nights in a week never happens.

image

The last time I had seen DKM, was at Warped Tour 2005. I honestly couldn’t tell you anything I remember from that show, partially because it was Warped Tour and the sound system was always horrible.

With being in a smaller venue, and not needing to be right up front we really enjoyed the show! Even more so that we some how planned it out perfectly to where we didn’t even see the opening bands. Neither of us really wanted to see them so it definitely worked out in our favor!

There’s something about DKM that truly makes you appreciate the music and their background and history with their city. Something very cool to feel watching them perform. The pride they have, something you don’t see these days.

And of course we had to buy Little Miss a tshirt!
If you’ve never seen DKM before, or if it’s been years since you’ve seen them, I highly recommend catching them on their tour right now!

Late Valentine’s Day Date Night.

As first time parents, going out is rare. Going out together with no baby is even more rare. We’ve been incredibly lucky to have my parents always willing to watch Little Miss. In fact, they beg us to go out so they can have an evening with their granddaughter.

Since A had to work on Valentine’s Day, we just did a little something that morning. Valentine’s Day isn’t really a big to deal to us, I was more excited that it was Little Miss’ first Valentine’s Day. On Monday, A surprised me with at work with a message that stated we were dropping off Little Miss by my parents, he was going to tattoo me and we had dinner reservations at one of our favorite restaurants.

image

Since having Little Miss, I will be the first to admit that it is incredibly stressful and difficult to have that relationship we had before a baby was born. Our carefree, do what we want, when we want lifestyle. They say the first year of marriage is hard, I think that’s a lie. The first year of being a parent is the hardest. Not that it’s been a burden or something I wouldn’t want because I love our life and everything about it. We worked for it and we’re enjoying every moment.I think all first time parents would agree it’s a hard adjustment and it’s a learning experience.

image

Our date last night was just the thing we needed. I can’t remember the last time I put so much effort into doing my makeup, finding an outfit, laughing, feeling like we were 23 again.

image

We may not get those nights a lot, but the nights we get are very special to us and we enjoy every moment we have.

After 10 months, it’s still incredibly hard to leave Little Miss, but knowing she’s in great hands makes it so much easier. Another reason why we decided against daycare.

Hope everyone had a fantastic Valentine’s Day whether it was celebrated last weekend or next weekend, enjoy your moments with your significant other, have a conversation, put your phone away, be silly, remember why you’re with that person.

Little Miss’ First Valentine’s Day!

Last year, A and I celebrated Valentine’s Day with our baby shower, this year we celebrated with Little Miss being 10 months old.

Little Miss turned 10 months old yesterday. She has 6 teeth, loves to crawl, and loves pancakes. She says mama, dada and papa!

A few weeks ago, we made her first Valentine’s Day present for her daddy. I’ve been trying to find more activities to do with her since we’re in the house alot because of the weather. With how curious she is, painting was a perfect activity, plus she loves bath time so it worked out for a great activity for an afternoon.

Recovery Break.

A little over 24 hours ago, I was rushed to the emergency room by ambulance thinking my appendix had burst. Thankfully after a CT scan and an ultrasound, my appendix came back normal along with my ultrasound.

Turns out I had quite a few cysts burst at the same time. That was by far one of the scariest things ever, even scarier than birth. Between paramedics being in my house and being alone with Little Miss, I was more worried about making sure she was ok, rather than myself. As most mom’s do.

I’m still sore and out of it, so I’m going to take the next few days to sign off from social media and worry about getting back to normal.

Our Little Bookworm.

I’ve been a book nerd pretty much my whole life. When I was in grade school my mom would buy me the Babysitters Club Little Sister book series and I would just read through them like nothing. I was always reading, and I’m so glad I had the chances to go to the library and read whatever I wanted.

Now that Little Miss is older, almost a toddler, we have been pushing books and reading time alot more. We still allow her to watch her favorite cartoons and of course play with her toys, but we also hand her books to play with.

I’ve made it a goal this month to do more reading with her and we’ve been reading atleast two books a day. While she grabs her books on her own, when she sits and listens her favorites do include Dr. Suess. I’m going to assume it’s the funny sounds we have to make while reading The Foot Book.

Active Baby…Organized Home.

We have had quite the week so far, Little Miss is finally crawling! She is been army crawling since October, and she finally put those little legs to work and she crawls! Now that we have a mobile baby, I find myself picking up toys pretty much all day.

If you knew me before I was pregnant, you know I love cleaning, organizing, making cleaning lists, and my absolute favorite is spring cleaning. So you can imagine the anxiety I get when I see toys everywhere. I know that it’s all worth it and toys can always be picked up, and Little Miss had just has so much fun during the day but I miss my clean house.

So I finally figured out how I can have my clean and organized home while having a soon to be toddler. I realized my biggest issue was having so much stuff in a small place. In January, I started a goal to donate or throw away 40 bags of everything that I go through in our house. I started with Little Miss’ room and was able to get rid of a few bags of clothes, shoes, & a bunch of little things I had purchased before she was even born that I never even opened or used.

I went to my closet Knox and I need clothes that I have not worn since I was pregnant or before I was pregnant we’re all donated, which also included shoes and accessories.

The biggest thing I realized since having little miss with that the house is never going to be perfectly clean or organized, which is fine because our daughter is happy and has fun everyday.

Decluttering and organizing is not a one day project, it used to be a weekend project I would tackle in the spring. Now it’s more like a one month project that I have already started my spring cleaning checklist.

I will never put my wants before Little Miss, she is my first priority and I’m taking every opportunity to play with her while I can.

My spring cleaning may start in the winter and end in the summer, but it gets done.

Any mama’s out there have the same issue? Any tips?

Planning Little Miss’ First Birthday.

Am I really planning my daughter’s first birthday party already? She may be turning 10 months old in less than two weeks, but I am way ahead of planning for her birthday party

If you know me personally you know how much I love planning and making lists and having binders.

We decided on having a Sofia the first theme for little Miss’ first birthday. So  naturally, lots of purple, pink, and glitter.

I didn’t realize how much work needed to be put into this, so I’m so glad I’ve started now. Besides getting her room booked, I’ve had her invitations designed, her high chair tutu is finished, and I even hand made her sign for her high chair.

There’s still so much to do, centerpieces, tablecloths, her cake, her smash cake, and her outfit. Good thing I started two months ahead of time!
